We get to know your business. Not just your website.

We’re Plastic Box, a small, experienced team with a genuine interest in the businesses we work with.

We believe the best websites come from understanding the people behind a business, what makes them different and what they’re trying to achieve.

It’s an approach that’s helped us build relationships with customers that have lasted for decades.

And it’s why we still enjoy what we do.

A lot has changed since 2002.

Plastic Box was established in 2002, although our experience building websites goes back even further, to the days before Google existed.

We’ve seen the internet transform how businesses reach their customers. Along the way, we’ve adapted to new technology, new platforms and changing expectations.

But we’ve never believed in following trends simply because they’re fashionable.

Our background is in digital marketing, and we’ve always approached websites with a commercial mindset. We want to understand what makes people choose one business over another, and how a website can help influence that decision.

Technology moves on. Good business thinking never goes out of fashion.

Meet Gavin and Ollie.

We’re the two people behind Plastic Box, and between us we take care of everything from planning and building websites to looking after our customers long after launch.

Most of our customers get to know us both. We work directly with businesses, manage projects ourselves and are there when customers need help.

Gavin

With experience building websites stretching back to the late 1990s, Gavin brings a combination of digital marketing knowledge, commercial thinking and technical expertise to Plastic Box.

He’s particularly interested in understanding what makes businesses different and finding practical ways to help their websites achieve more.

Born and brought up on the Isle of Wight, Gavin later attended Farnborough College of Technology in Hampshire and has strong connections with Berkshire, where he’s a volunteer director of community radio station B Radio.

Ollie

Ollie brings a particular strength in copywriting and communicating what makes a business worth choosing.

He understands how important the right words are to a successful website, helping customers explain what they do clearly, bring out their personality and connect with the people they want to reach.

Based in Surrey, Ollie achieved a Distinction in Digital Marketing through the British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT.

Like Gavin, he’s directly involved in managing website projects and providing ongoing support to customers.

Four areas we know particularly well.

Berkshire. Hampshire. Surrey. Isle of Wight.

We work with businesses across the UK, but these four areas have particular significance to us.

They’re places where we’ve grown up, studied, worked and developed lasting personal and professional connections.

And that local knowledge can make a real difference.

When we’re building a website, writing its content or helping a business reach new customers, understanding the local area matters.

The character of a town, the people who live there, the way businesses operate and what customers expect can all influence how a business should present itself.

It’s knowledge that comes from knowing a place, not just looking it up.

Local understanding. A UK-wide service.

We take a genuine interest.

One of the things our customers tell us they appreciate most is the time we spend getting to know their business.

It’s not just about collecting enough information to build a website.

We want to understand what they do, what matters to them, why their customers choose them and where they want to take their business.

Sometimes those conversations uncover strengths they hadn’t fully recognised themselves.

That understanding shapes the advice we give, the words we write and the websites we create.

And because we get to know our customers, we’re better placed to help them as their businesses change and grow.

Straightforward people. A sensible way of working.

We like to keep things simple.

We work directly with our customers through email, telephone and video meetings, keeping projects moving without unnecessary travel or complicated processes.

We make good use of modern technology, including AI where it helps us work more efficiently, but the important decisions and responsibility for the work remain with us.

We’re happy to share our opinions, explain our recommendations and tell you when we think there’s a better way of doing something.

And we’ll always aim to be clear about what’s included, what things cost and what you can expect.

Experienced advice, without the agency complications.

Discover How We Work

We’re here for the long term.

We don’t see a website launch as the end of a project and the end of a relationship.

We want to be the people customers continue turning to for hosting, maintenance, content updates and advice.

Some of the businesses we started working with in our early years are still customers today.

That’s something we’re proud of, and it’s the kind of relationship we hope to build with every business we work with.

Let’s get to know your business.

Enough about us. We’d like to hear about you.

Whether you’re planning a new website, need someone to look after an existing one or simply want to explore your options, we’re always happy to have a conversation.

Tell us a little about your business and what you’re hoping to achieve. We’ll share our initial thoughts and see how we can help.
